Townes
The design for this modern transitional home in Tarrytown was born after removing the existing, dilapidated structure that originally occupied the lot. Due to McMansion ordinances, the design had to adhere to extreme guidelines, maximize impervious cover, as well as stay within an economical budget for the clients. The resulting 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath design incorporates deep overhangs with extensive glass and natural light, creating the perfect setting for the modern Design Within Reach furnishings throughout the home. The style continues to resonate across the sleek exterior of stucco, smooth-cut stone, and Hardie siding, capped off by a flat metal roof. Despite the design challenges, this contemporary home fits the needs of its small family while finding a niche in this traditional, yet evolving, central Austin neighborhood.
